respect
Everyone seeks respect and it’s a two-way street. It can take awhile to earn, it can be freely given, and mere seconds to lose. Phillip PAGE wants to restore the people’s respect for the court. District Court Judges have an enormous role in the judicial system because they hear cases the most variety of cases. Cases range from simple first time traffic infractions to misdemeanors such as shoplifting, all the way up to the beginning stages of murder and other felony cases. Phillip PAGE is the best suited for District Court judge because of his ability to build connections with people, which creates trust through teaching about the process; leading to respect being built between the People and the Courts. Simply put, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Respect: (noun) A feeling or understanding that someone or something is important, serious, etc., and deserves appropriate treatment or regard. (Verb) to consider worthy of high regard; to act in a way which shows awareness (i.e. someone’s rights, wishes, etc…); to treat or deal with something or someone in a proper way; to do what is required by law.
Accountability
Phillip PAGE believes elected officials are accountable to the people. As a young man, he was a Boy Scout 1990s and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout where he learned what it meant to be responsible for himself and others. Those lessons then transferred into college and later to the U.S. Army when he became an active duty enlisted soldier. Miltiary service members and families thereof know the sacrifice one commits to serve. The difference is that a person can quit a normal job. Quitting the miltiary is not really an option, especially during a war. Phillip PAGE believes in restoring the position of District Court Judge as a community leader and champion for the law. Working to support your family is a job. Working to support your community, beyond compensation and at the cost of your own personal time, energies, and freedom, is service. He does not miss work. He’s disciplined. Everyday waking up at 4:45 a.m. to exercise and keep his body in optimal shape. A good judge is the first one in and the last one out. They lead by example and nothing comes before the role they’ve been called to perform. Foremost duty to the office. On the bench or in the office, all day, everyday. Serving the people in this community, not taking trips out of county when they should be working here, for this community.
Accountability: (noun) the quality or state of being accountable; an obligation or willingness to accept responsbility or to account for one’s actions.
Justice for all
Victims have rights. The community as a whole has rights. Phillip PAGE believes we have the right to be protected from those that would do us harm. Like many communities, Daviess County has been rocked by violence related to guns and drugs. Those that resist the legal authority of our laws, our plaw enforcement and our courts, once due process has been observed, should then receive judgment which fits the crime and the criminal. Repeat offenders repeat because they do not fear the consequences of their actions and because they have not addressed the underlying issue leading to their actions. Phillip PAGE has spent years working alongside nonprofit organizations in Daviess County to understand how these programs can work towards repairing the harm caused by crime.
Justice for All: Justice: (noun) the process or result of using laws to fairly judge cases, redress wrongs, and punish crimes; the quality of being just, impartial or fair; the principle or ideal of fair treatment or right action; conformity to truth, fact, or reason.
